A 19-year-old student at Olds College is heartbroken after her barrel racing saddle and other gear were stolen while she was in Edmonton over the weekend.

Sarah Miller was competing in the Canadian National College Finals Rodeo when someone broke into her truck and stole her Brittany Pozzi barrel racing saddle, worth about $3,000.

Miller says she worked hard to earn the money for the saddle and that barrel racing is her life.

"It's so amazing, like the connection you get with your horse," she says. "When you're about to enter the arena, when you're just going around the barrels, you get such an adrenaline rush."

Miller was still able to compete Sunday after borrowing a saddle.

She has filed a police report and also posted the theft on Facebook, Twitter, and been in contact with various rodeo organizations and others that deal with riding gear.
