It can be tough setting up a restaurant across the street from one of Calgary's busiest eateries.
That's the case for H&J Chinese Bistro, which set up shop right across from Peters' Drive-In on 16th Avenue N.W.
That spot that has seen a lot of other restaurants try and fail over the years and can be a challenge to get in and out of.
Restaurant reviewer John Gilchrist says the northern Chinese cuisine is very different from the more southern Chinese fare that most Westerners are used to.
It features Russian influences like potatoes and cabbage, as well as pickled and preserved vegetables, but also offers more traditional options like ginger beef and chili-pepper crusted chicken.
