Red Deer nears 100,000 milestone for population
Census data suggests city is close to the 100,000-person mark
The population of Red Deer is nearing the 100,000 mark, according to the city's latest census numbers released Monday.
The central Alberta city grew by 1.5 per cent from 2013 to 2014. More than 98,500 people now call Red Deer home. The average age is 31.
This is the second year the city has made the census available online. Enumerators are then sent to addresses that have not responded online.
The City of Calgary plans to move to a similar system next year.
Nearly 40 per cent of respondents used the online option to submit their information.
