A Red Deer man is facing a string of charges after RCMP say he led them on a chase after a hit and run which ended with the suspect ramming a police cruiser.

Police responded to reports of a hit and run with a stolen Ford Expedition truck on the 67th Street bridge around 9 a.m. Jan. 24.

The 20-year-old suspect was found at a gas station parking lot a few blocks away.

Police say when a cruiser attempted to block the suspect from leaving, he hit the gas, ramming the police car and escaped.

The driver led the police on a pursuit, striking a parked car and ending up stuck in the snow behind Aspen Heights School.

The suspect is facing multiple charges and is scheduled to have his second court appearance in Red Deer on Feb. 1.
