Red Deer RCMP has arrested a man after about 40 bar patrons were treated for exposure to pepper spray.

Police say a man walked into a Red Deer, Alta., bar early Thursday morning with open liquor and sprayed some of the bouncers when they confronted him.

As paramedics treated people at the bar, police received another call about a man using pepper spray on a person at a nearby residence.

RCMP said they chased the man down with the help of a police dog and arrested him.

The 24-year-old suspect was in custody after being treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Charges are pending.

Police ask anyone who was treated for being pepper sprayed to contact the Red Deer RCMP.
