Police release name of N.E. Calgary homicide victim
Monisha Sidhu was originally from India
Calgary police have identified the woman who died after an incident in the northeast neighbourhood of Temple Friday.
Monisha Sidhu, 26, was found in critical condition in the area of Templegreen Drive N.E. She later died.
Her husband, Gagandeep Sidhu, has been charged with first-degree murder. He will be in court Tuesday.
An autopsy was done on Monday, but the medical examiner is not releasing the cause of death.
Police say the couple got into a fight while in a vehicle. She attempted to get out, but got tangled in the seatbelt, and was dragged before the vehicle came to a stop.
She eventually got free, but police said the man caught up with her and another altercation took place where she sustained injuries.
The couple did not have children and had been married for a few years. Police say there is no history of domestic violence and the woman, originally from India, had no family in Calgary.
