Calgary police are investigating a stabbing in the city's southeast that left one man critically injured.

Police say the stabbing happened at about 1:20 a.m. MT Saturday at the Acadia community centre at 240 90th Ave. S.E.

A man, believed to be in his mid 20s, was critically injured during an altercation. Initially the man was not expected to live, police say, but he was later stabilized in hospital. He remains in critical condition.

Police say at least one person of interest was arrested. It is believed the victim and assailants had been attending a party at the community centre when the assault occurred.

The names of the victim and suspects have not been released.
