Police will be going door-to-door with a photo of a pair of shoes left behind during a sexual assault, hoping the footwear will lead them to the culprit.

The shoes are brown leather, size 8, and described as "Lugz, Drifter Lo Scuff Proof SR." The laces were left double knotted.

On Thursday night, officers will begin knocking on the doors of businesses and homes around the Maddock Drive area.

"It is believed the suspect is familiar with this area," police said in a press release.

The culprit allegedly broke into a residence in the 5800 block of Maddock Drive N.E. on July 27 just after 3 a.m. while the 40-year-old woman was asleep, then sexually assaulted her.

Police said the suspect is a 25- to 30-year-old thin-built white man. He weighs about 150 lbs and has a medium complexion.

After the attack the suspect fled in an older, compact, dark, regular-cab truck, police said. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the sex crimes tip line at 403-206-8175, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
