Police charge Calgary man in string of bank heists
A 21-year-old Calgary man has been charged in connection with four bank robberies that happened in the city since August 2007.
Jesse John Scanland was arrested Saturday in the Motel Village area, Calgary police said in a news release Sunday.
Scanland has been charged in connection with the Aug. 21 robbery of First Calgary Financial on MacLeod Trail South and the Sept. 27 robbery of the Scotiabank at 1303 Centre St. N.
He has also been charged in connection with robberies at two First Calgary Savings institutions — one on Shawville Boulevard in the city's southeast on Oct. 1 and the second on Brentwood Road Feb. 12.
A Canada-wide warrant had been issued for his arrest in relation to three of the robberies, police said.
