The Calgary Fire Department responded after receiving a call at about 1 p.m. to a fire in the stairwell at #42 - 2319 56th St. N.E.
Nearby units in the multi-family complex were evacuated as a precaution but residents have since returned.
Acting District Chief Martin Keefe says the sole occupant of the home, a man in his 40s, is thought to have serious but non-life-threatening burns from the incident.
