Parks Canada is putting the brakes on prescribed burns for one year.
The scheduled fires are used to create habitat and control for wildfires in the parks.
Parks Canada says funding has been deferred for a year, but there is a commitment to bring the program back.
The CBC Eyeopener's David Gray talked to Rick Kubian, a resource conservation manager with Parks Canada, about the short-term and long-term effects of the move.
