Alberta Health Services has recruited a doctor for Fort Macleod after the sudden closure of a clinic in that community on Jan. 4.
That left the southern Alberta community without two of its four doctors, and 1,200 patients without a physician.
On Wednesday afternoon, AHS announced it had reached an agreement with one of the doctors who had been working at that private clinic.
She will now remain in Fort Macleod and take a position at the remaining clinic.
"We do have three hard-working physicians in Fort Macleod that are going to do their best to work to meet the needs of the community," said Dr. Vanessa Maclean of Alberta Health Services.
Dr. Maclean says the remaining clinic and doctors will continue to provide 24-hour emergency care.
