The Banff Centre is hosting a marijuana grow-op conference this week featuring a drug agent from Colorado as the keynote speaker.
The three-day conference that begins Tuesday involves law enforcement, government and private sector members from across the province and will look at the impacts of grow-ops on communities.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), Calgary Police Service, and the City of Calgary are co-hosting the event.
The Evolution and Management of Marijuana Grow-ops conference will explore marijuana legislation, how communities have responded, and will examine best practices.
Denver drug agent Sgt. Jim Gerhardt is the keynote speaker. He will speak about the implications of Colorado's marijuana legalization.
Other panel experts include members of law enforcement, municipalities, private sector growers, and the medical community.
In 2013, ALERT dismantled almost 100 grow-ops in the province.
