Man fatally stabbed in downtown Calgary
Victim stumbled into a hotel lobby, later pronounced dead at hospital
Police are investigating a homicide that happened in downtown Calgary early Friday morning.
At around 3:30 a.m. MT a man with stab wounds stumbled into the Delta Bow Valley hotel on the 200 block of Fourth Avenue southeast.
Hotel manager James Tingley said the victim was not a guest at the hotel and he believes the stabbing occurred a few blocks away.
Hotel staff called 911 and the man, believed to be about 50, was taken to Foothills hospital where he was pronounced dead, EMS officials said.
The fourth avenue flyover from Bridgeland has been reopened to traffic.
But Fourth Avenue will remain cordoned off from Macleod Trail to First Street southeast through the afternoon rush hour, along with First Street from Riverfront Avenue to Fourth Avenue, police said.
