Police are interviewing witnesses after a man was fatally stabbed at a pub early Saturday.

Duty Insp. Patty McCallum says a number of people in the pub saw the attack take place.

2200 68th Street NE Calgary

About 25 witnesses were questioned after two men in their 20s got into an altercation inside the pub just before 2 a.m. One man was stabbed and the other quickly left the pub.

Police were called and found the wounded man in medical distress, apparently suffering from stab wounds.

EMS responded but he was declared dead at the scene.

Homicide investigators do not believe this was a random attack and, despite the co-operation of witnesses, they are still trying to determine a motive and accurate description of the suspect, which is expected to be released later Saturday afternoon.
