Calgary police are looking for witnesses to a high-speed motorcycle crash that killed the driver, reported to be a man in his 20s.

A black Honda motorcycle was heading south on Deerfoot Trail "at an extremely high rate of speed" at about 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, said police. The motorcycle smashed into the rear of a silver Chevrolet Cavalier, throwing the rider into the air and then onto the road.

The man died later in hospital. The people in the car were not hurt.

Police do not believe alcohol was involved.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen the collision, or witnessed the vehicles prior to the incident, to call the traffic section at (403) 567-4000.
