Police have charged a man in connection with a sexual assault last week in northeast Calgary.

A teenage girl was walking in the area of 36th Street between 24th Avenue and Rundlehorn Drive N.E. early Sunday morning when a man forced her into nearby vestibule where he threatened and sexually assaulted her, police said.

A 23-year-old Calgary man was arrested on Tuesday, police said.

He has been charged with sexual assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, police said on Thursday.
