Lawyer to seek bail for accused in Dover shooting death
Jesse Hill faces 2nd-degree murder trial for the death of Amy Sands
A trial will go ahead for the man accused of fatally shooting a 27-year-old woman last summer at a home in the southeast Calgary community of Dover.
Jesse Hill was committed to stand trial on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Amy Sands.
Police have said the young woman was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Her father, Ed Sands — who is a councillor in Okotoks just south of Calgary — was in the courtroom Tuesday for the decision.
"I guess how can you be pleased with any outcome regarding this kind of thing, but we are happy that the process continues and that it's moving forward," he said.
"It's a step towards conclusion."
Hill's lawyer says he will seek a bail review for his client. There is no date yet on when that will happen.
