Warmer spring weather has caused spring run-off in parts of Alberta, with Kneehill County issuing a high water level alert.

Warmer spring weather has caused spring run-off in Kneehill County, which has issued a high water level alert.

The county, northeast of Calgary, has closed the Hesketh Low Level Crossing.

"There are elevated water levels in streams due to spring run-off. Avoid the creek crossing at Hesketh as water levels are rising and dangerous," said an alert issued Monday evening.

"Avoid streams and creek crossings. Be aware of areas known to flood easily such as streams, drainage channels and canyons. Take all necessary precautions."
