Justin McNeil identified as Bow River drowning victim by police

Police have confirmed that the body of a man recovered from the Bow River last weekend is that of Justin McNeil. The 19-year-old disappeared on June 22nd after going for a swim while camping.

Police have identified a body found in the Bow River last weekend as that of Justin McNeil.

The 19-year-old from Cape Breton was reported missing on June 22 after going swimming while camping on the Highwood River. The Highwood is a tributary of the Bow.

He was immediately caught in the strong current and swept downstream.

When he was reported missing, police searched the river with boats and a helicopter in the area of the campground and downstream for 10 kilometres, but were unable to locate McNeil.

The body was discovered by people fishing the river last weekend.
