Hot Chocolate Fest crowns winner amidst deep freeze
Cornerstone Music Cafe took top honours for 'Hot Mayan' concoction
Calgary crowned its top cup of cocoa this weekend, marking an end to the third annual Hot Chocolate Festival.
Cornerstone Music Cafe won the Best Hot Chocolate category with its Hot Mayan concoction. The festival raises money in support of Calgary Meals on Wheels and organizers say this year was definitely a success.
"Going in coffee shops, we're getting young people, we're getting families, we're getting all different kinds of people who are becoming aware of what we do," said Kathryn Vincent, fund development manager at Calgary Meals on Wheels. That's what this is about for us, it's really about getting into the community."
Vincent says they are still tallying up this year's total.
Other winners included Cibo in the Spirited Hot Chocolate category with its Vino Cioccolato.
Of all participants, Euphoria Cafe raised the most money for Calgary Meals on Wheels.
