A highway worker died Monday after a three-vehicle collision in a village northeast of Calgary.

Highway 21 and Highway 9 Beiseker, Alberta

Police say a transport truck and a Honda Civic collided in Beiseker, hitting a parked pickup truck. Two workers, who were doing highway maintenance, were then hit by the vehicles.

The male worker was declared deceased at the scene. A woman was airlifted by STARS in critical condition following the 12:30 p.m. MT collisions on Highway 21 and Highway 9.

The driver of the Honda Civic is also in hospital for injuries.

Airdrie RCMP are on scene investigating. No charges have been laid and alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor.
