Members of a former Calgary synagogue gathered Sunday to acknowledge the end of an era.
A Jewish group from the Calgary Beth Tzedec Congregation met at the building for a celebration of the space.
The Shaarey Tzedec Synagogue was built in 1959, but hasn’t been used as a Jewish sanctuary for more than 25 years.
"I've driven by this building many times when it wasn't a synagogue anymore and still took a look over and had that little bit of a memory as I drove by — and that won't be anymore," said former member Susan Dvorkin.
The building is expected to be demolished later this year.
