Graphic flyers prompt harassment, stalking charges
Woman was target of threatening literature delivered around Calgary neighbourhood, say police
A 61-year-old man has been charged with harassment and stalking after hundreds of graphic flyers attacking a woman were distributed in a southeast Calgary neighbourhood.
Police started their investigation last June after a man alleged his 40-year-old daughter was the target of the harassing literature.
It contained pornographic images and made serious allegations about her, resulting in her being solicited for sexual encounters, police said.
The flyers — some of which were also sent through the mail — contained the victim’s name, address and phone number, police said. The alleged harassment began in 2011.
A Calgary man, who was known to the victim, was arrested last Friday and charged with two counts of criminal harassment and stalking and one count of uttering a threat.
His next court appearance is set for March 28.
