The annual Go Girl girls-only workshop was held in Calgary today.
It's a one-day event to help young girls ages 10 to 16-years-old make healthy lifestyle choices.
Brenda Olsen, Southland Leisure Centre recreation supervisor, explains the workshops are about more than just getting girls into physical activities.
"It's about believing in themselves, about believing who they are is good and accepting themselves for who they are and knowing that they all have strengths in various areas," said Olsen.
"We encourage art and we encourage drama and we encourage activity of different types."
This is the 10th anniversary of Go Girl. The workshops have been expanded to several leisure centers in Calgary.
