Firefighters battled a house fire early Monday morning in the far northwest community of Kincora.

The blaze started around 4:20 a.m. at a house on Kincora Drive N.W. and spread to a neighbouring home, officials said.

Crews successfully put out the blaze and kept it from spreading to more houses.

The residents of the two homes got out safely. But one person, who had gone back in to retrieve a possession, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital, officials said.

The fire department is reminding Calgarians not to re-enter a building in the event of a fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
