Fire bans issued in southern Alberta
Cypress County, Cardston, County of Forty Mile, M.D. of Foothills, Crowsnest Pass and Vulcan County under bans
The hot, dry conditions in the province have prompted several fire bans in southern Alberta.
Cypress County, which covers the entire corner of the province around Medicine Hat, is under a fire ban.
There are also fire bans around Cardston, County of Forty Mile, the Municipal District of Foothills, Crowsnest Pass and Vulcan County.
A number of other areas have fire restrictions.
A grass fire temporarily closed down a portion of Highway 524 between Highway 1 and Highway 879 near Redcliff, Alta., but RCMP say it has since reopened.
The conditions also stoked a large wildfire through the Sage Creek grazing pasture in the southeast corner of Alberta earlier this week.
The Alberta government website Alberta Fire Bans has more information on the fire bans and lists all the advisories.
