The father of a baby who died six years ago of a head injury has been charged with manslaughter.

Four-month-old Honey Jerry was rushed to hospital in January 2007 from a house in the 400 block of Ranchlands Grove N.W.

The baby girl died just over a month later from what an autopsy concluded was cranial trauma.

"Following a thorough investigation, and consultation with the Crown, police are now in a position to lay charges against the biological father of the child," police said Friday in a release.

With help from RCMP, Calgary police arrested Kinsey Jerry, 27, of Siksika, on Wednesday.

He was charged with one count of manslaughter and held in custody. He made a brief court appearance Friday morning.

Jerry also faces charges of aggravated assault from 2011 in connection with a four-month-old boy who was found unconscious at a home in Gleichen, Alta.
