The family of a Calgary man missing for one year today held a public memorial service Saturday afternoon to honour his life.

Ralph Simington, 67, disappeared June 15, 2012, after going for a walk in Bowness around 9:30 p.m.

Despite sending out multiple search parties, police and family members have been unable to locate Simington, who had suffered a stroke in the past.

"There's no suspicious activity going on in his life, no foul play, it just was out of character for him not to reach out and contact folks and that's how we became involved," said Kevin Brookwell with the Calgary Police Service.

Police received a number of tips from the public following Simington's disappearance and say they have followed up on all of them.

However, there have been no leads.

The case is still considered open and police say it will remain that way until it is solved.
