Evergreen Link fire victim dies from injuries
Investigators not yet sure whether home had working fire detectors
One of the victims of a Sunday morning house fire in Evergreen Link has died from her injuries.
Early Sunday, fire crews were called to the 100 block of Everwoods Link S.W. for reports of a fire. They found three occupants — a man and two children — visibly shaken outside of the home and began a search for a woman who was initially unaccounted for.
That woman was found and brought to a hospital but has since died.
The man remains in serious condition in hospital but there is no word on the condition of the children.
Detectives with the Calgary Police Service Arson Unit and investigators from the fire department are still on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
It is believed to have started in the kitchen area and it's not yet known whether the home had working smoke detectors.
Updates on the cause of the fire and the conditions of the other victims are expected to be released later.
