Dry conditions spark fire warnings in Alberta
Most of the fires are human caused, says wildfire information officer
Fire officials are warning Albertans to be very careful outside as dry conditions have kept crews busy battling wildfires right across the province for the past few days.
"There's so many reasons why fires start right now," said Geoffrey Driscoll, a wildfire information officer with the province.
"People just really need to be careful. All of these fires that are starting right now are human caused and human-caused wildfires are of course 100 per cent preventable."
Driscoll says the sudden jump in temperatures and the recent high winds mean the snow evaporated instead of melting into the ground to keep it moist.
He says all of the wildfires burning right now are contained.
