Several pillars in downtown Calgary have been "doily-bombed" by a mystery crocheter.

The pillars at Second Street and Sixth Avenue S.W. were covered with crocheted doilies on Aug. 5 but so far, the identify of the busy crocheter is unknown.

According to Reddit users discussing the doily-bombing, the same pillars had been covered in toques by someone several weeks ago.

Online speculation of who is behind the scenes ranges from art students on a project to Mayor Naheed Nenshi putting a possible secret hobby to civic use.
