Douglasglen early morning fire destroys home
All residents accounted for after 2-alarm blaze
An early morning fire in Douglasglen destroyed a single family home Saturday.
Fire crews were called to the 500 block of Douglas Glen Point S.E. at around 5 a.m. MT. Upon arrival, they found a large volume of visible smoke and flames and called a second alarm.
Crews were faced with a rapidly escalating event involving a two-storey single family home, with flames threatening two adjacent houses.
It was quickly determined that all residents of the home on fire were accounted for and also that the house would be a total loss.
Crews then decided to focus on protecting nearby homes at risk of becoming engulfed.
Residents living downwind of the fire were forced out of their homes and one person was treated by EMS for a non-fire related issue.
Fire crews are still on scene dealing with hot spots and once the area is deemed safe, the investigation into the cause of the fire will begin.
