Doctor suspended over sexual relationship with patient
Family physician was treating woman he was seeing, and her children
A Calgary family doctor has been suspended by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta for 10 months.
A hearing by the college found Dr. William Healley guilty of an inappropriate relationship with a patient.
That woman and her children were part of Healley's family practice.
The tribunal says Healley flirted with the adult patient during medical appointments and this progressed to a sexual relationship. However, the doctor never formally ended the doctor-patient relationship and he continued to treat her children.
Healley must also pay investigation costs of more than $35,000.
