All kinds of animals were welcomed into the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer in downtown Calgary on Saturday for the 16th annual Blessing of the Animals.
"Well it's the first time we had a donkey this year," said founder and organizer Heather Trainor. "We did have a white albino corn snake one time. We've had rabbits and ferrets and hamsters."
Trainor says it is a chance for some people to celebrate their animals and for others to come to mourn the loss of a favourite pet.
Donations from the service will be given to the Animal Rescue and Meow foundations.
