Crash in N.W. sends 3 to hospital
2 children taken to hosptial were between ages of 7 and 11
Three people including two children were sent to hospital after the vehicle they were in rolled over in Calgary's northwest Saturday morning.
The accident happened on Symons Valley Road near 144th Avenue around 9:00 a.m. MT. EMS says there were five people in the vehicle and the three taken to hospital are described as being in stable condition despite one child having needed to be extricated from the vehicle by the fire department.
"We plan and prepare for the worst and hope for the best," said Adam Loria, spokesperson for EMS. "All were conscious and communicating with paramedics which is obviously a good thing but again, with a rollover there could be possible internal injuries that we can't see in the field."
The children involved in the crash were girls between the ages of seven and 10.
The other person taken to hospital is a woman.
EMS is urging people to avoid non-essential driving, particularly outside of the city because roads are in poor condition.
