Calgary police are now saying a suspicious death investigation in the Mission area Saturday morning is not connected to the phrase "murder was the case" scrawled in blue chalk just down the street from where a man's body was discovered.
This despite the message being steps away from what looks like a large blood stain in the middle of the street.
The body of the man in his 20s was discovered outside an apartment building located on the 1400 block of Fourth Street S.W.
Officers had responded to the scene around 4 a.m. MT for reports of a disturbance.
Police are calling this a suspicious death, but the homicide unit is leading the investigation.
Homicide detectives say they won't know the cause of death until an autopsy is performed on Tuesday.
Investigators have interviewed a number of witnessess, but say they have not talked to any suspects at this point.
