Canadians give Olympic send-off to star athletes in Banff, Alta.

Canadians hoping to personally wish good luck to the country's star athletes before they head to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, had a chance to do so today at a send-off party in Banff, Alta.

Canadians hoping to personally wish good luck to the country's star athletes before they head to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia,had a chance to do so Saturday at a send-off party in Banff, Alta.

The Canadian Olympic Team Block Partytook place in the mountain town from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. MT Saturday and was hosted by CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos. 

The event included appearances by former alpine skier and Crazy Canuck Steve Podborski, Canada's chef de mission for the Winter Olympics, and musical acts the Sheepdogs and the Arkells.
