Canadian Blood Services is looking for Calgarians to roll up their sleeves and donate blood.

The organization needs more than 500 blood donors to maintain the blood supply over the holidays. Meanwhile, there are about 3,000 donors needed nationally.

The problem is that a lot of regular donors are either busy or out of town right now.

"We'd like to thank Canadians who took the time to donate blood so far this holiday season, but we need that generosity to continue through the end of the year," says Lisa Castro, Community Development Coordinator for Canadian Blood Services. "As the year draws to an end, do something that embodies the spirit and generosity of the season-give blood. It costs you nothing, and it'll give someone a holiday miracle."

If you want to be a donor call 1-888-2-DONATE to make an appointment.
