Calgary teen wins his first NASCAR race

Calgary teenager Cameron Hayley has won a NASCAR race in Florida.

Calgary teenager Cameron Hayley has won a NASCAR race in Florida.

The 16-year-old high school student won the Battle at the Beach in Daytona Beach, Fla., last week.

"I grew up at Race City," said Hayley. "I was one of those kids standing behind the fence, just smelling all those toxic, like, tire smoke and exhaust fumes. All that stuff your parents don't want you to smell, I was smelling. It's kind of been in my blood since then. I just kind of been working my way up the ranks."

Hayley is a student at Bishop Carroll High School. His sponsor is the family's cabinet business.
