Hundreds of Calgarians got out of bed Sunday morning to play tug-of-war against a 86,000kg airplane, all in support of the Calgary United Way.
The second annual Plane Pull saw teams work to haul an Airbus A300 50 feet down the tarmac at Calgary airport.
Each team has 15 people, with at least four women on each team. So far, the teams have raised more than $80,000.
Lucy Miller, president and CEO of the Calgary United Way, said last year's Plane Pull raised $30,000 last year.
"I think last year we had about 17 teams — this year we have 37," she said.
Canadian Strongman record holder and Calgary police oficer, Sgt. Dennis Ruygrok, is also attempting to pull the plane on his own.
The event was initially scheduled for June but had to be pushed back because of the flood.
