Calgary may best be known as cowboy country, but it's also increasingly becoming showband country.
Two Calgary showbands took some of the top titles at the World Association of Marching Showbands Championships this past weekend in Braganca Paulista, Brazil.
For the third year in a row, the Calgary Stampede Showband defended its title, taking first place in the field show competition.
"This also makes their fifth championship title, something which no other marching band in the world has ever done," the Stampede said in a release.
The Calgary Stetson Showband took second place in the field show competition and first place in the parade competition.
