Calgary stabbing victim Brett Wiese bestowed posthumous U of C degree
Business student, killed in 2013, would have graduated this month
A 20-year-old man stabbed to death at a house party last year has been honoured at the University of Calgary.
Brett Wiese was awarded a posthumous Bachelor of Commerce degree by the Haskayne School of Business during Friday’s graduation ceremonies.
A memorial fund in his name has also been established, the university said.
Lawrence Hong also honoured
Earlier this week, a posthumous Bachelor of Arts degree in urban studies was awarded to Lawrence Hong.
He was among five young people who were stabbed to death at a party in Brentwood in April.
Both Hong and Wiese would have graduated this week.
