Calgary royal watchers plan parties
The royal wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey commences at 4 a.m. MST, so fans in this city will be setting their alarm clocks for an early morning wake up.
"I shall get up at 4 a.m. Actually before because I want to see all the guests arriving, have a cup of tea, and I'm going to tape it as well and watch it later in case I miss something," said Sue Young, who is from England, but now makes Calgary her home.
The Fairmont Palliser is hosting a Friday morning breakfast called Tying The Windsor Knot, an event already close to being sold out. The Royal Wedding breakfast, which starts at 7 a.m., will feature Kate and Will look-a-likes being ushered around downtown Calgary in a Bentley.
"Everyone is dressing up to the nines. Everyone will be in their Sunday attire, [with] gorgeous hats," she said.
Hamida Rashid, the owner of the British Pantry store in northwest Calgary's Northland Plaza, said she will wake up at 2 a.m. just to watch what she calls "the wedding of the century" with a "nice cup of tea."
"I don't want to miss anything," she said.
On Saturday she will convert the Northland Plaza parking lot into a royal wedding tea party.
