Calgary police have charged a private school teacher for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student.
Police say the incidents took place between April 2011 and February 2014.
The 36-year-old man was arrested and charged today.
His name, the name of the now 17-year-old female student and the private school are not being released to protect the victim's identity.
"The victim in this case is a current student and protecting her identity is a priority," said police in a release.
An investigation was launched by police after the allegations were brought forward on March 5.
The teacher has been charged with sexual interference with a child under 16 years, invitation to sexual touching with a child under 16 years, sexual contact with a youth by person in authority and sexual assault.
"By definition under the Criminal Code of Canada, a minor cannot legally consent to a sexual relationship with a person who is in a position of trust," said police in a release.
Police do not believe there are any other victims in relation to the case.
