Calgary police are investigating a New Year's Eve shooting in the southeast community of Acadia.

The incident happened at around 10 p.m. MT on Tuesday night. Det. Steve Adair said a woman called to report that her boyfriend had been shot.

"Upon CPS arrival, they found a male with gunshot wounds to the abdomen in the back of a house located in the Acadia area," said Adair.

Stuart Brideaux with Calgary EMS said the victim was immediately taken to hospital.

"Upon arrival, we determined a male in his early 30s was injured and we took him to the Foothills hospital in serious, potentially life-threatening condition," said Brideaux.

At this point, officers believe this was a targeted attack.

Adair said they do not have a suspect in custody but they have identified a suspect and are searching for that person right now.

"We do have an idea of where he may be and we're continuing to follow leads at this point," said Adair.

No one else was injured in this shooting. The woman who called police, the man who was shot and a baby were the only ones at the Acadia residence at the time of the shooting.
