Calgary police confirm city's 1st homicide of 2014

Police say a man found dead in a parked vehicle in Harvest Hills on Wednesday is the city's first homicide victim of 2014.

Calgary police have confirmed they are investigating the city's first homicide of 2014. 

Police say a man found dead in a vehicle in Harvest Hills on Wednesday was the victim of a crime.

He has been identified as 29-year-old Jackson Tran of Calgary.

Police were called to the 0-100 block of Harvest Oak Gate N.E. by residents who reported a man who appeared to be in distress, but he was dead by the time officers arrived on the scene.

While investigators have confirmed a shooting occurred at the location where Tran was discovered, his exact cause of death is not being released for investigative reasons.

Investigators do not believe this was a random incident and they say the general public is not at risk.
