Calgary police call Brian Black Kettle's death a homicide
Black Kettle was found unconscious in downtown Calgary's Century Gardens park
Calgary police have identified a man who died following a weekend attack in a downtown park.
Police are now calling 35-year-old Brian Black Kettle's death a homicide.
Black Kettle was found at 11 p.m. on Sunday unconscious and not breathing in Century Gardens at Eighth Street and Seventh Avenue southwest. He was taken to hospital and later declared dead, police said.
"Investigators believe the man was approached by another man and struck in what appears to be an unprovoked attack. It is believed the offender and the victim were known to each other and the incident is not considered random," police said in a press release on Tuesday.
Investigators are reviewing security camera footage and are looking to speak with anyone who may have information about Black Kettle's death.
Black Kettle is Calgary's 22nd homicide victim, according to police.
