Your new property assessment notice is in the mail. About half a million notices are now in the hands of Canada Post. The notices reflect property values as of July 1, 2015. The city assessor says his department's analysis of the market condition at that time showed property values were relatively stable versus mid-2014. Updated assessment information will be up on the city's website later today, and homeowners have two months to file an appeal if they don't agree with their assessment notice.
Only a week after the Goat's Eye lift was evacuated at Sunshine Village, Kicking Horse Resort has been forced to conduct a similar evacuation. An electrical blowout on the hill's gondola Sunday afternoon stranded about 75 skiers and snowboarders in mid-air. Rescuers used ropes to bring the majority of guests to safety, but helicopters were used for those who were higher up. A spokesperson for Kicking Horse says the resort is working to get the gondola up and running today.
