An Edmonton Uber rider who was hit with a huge bill on New Year's Eve is saying the service made mistakes in his case. After a night of partying, Matt Lindsay was charged $1100 for a ride to St. Albert with several stops in between. Lindsay says the ride should have cost a little over a hundred dollars. He agreed to a so-called "surge rate" of nearly nine times the normal fare. Uber has refunded half of Lindsay's bill. They say the information about surge pricing has been widely published on its website.
